Doing life better through books and food
Things to read, cook and eat when you want to 'do life better'
Hello! Today’s newsletter is a question and two answers.
One of our beautiful listeners/readers recently wrote us the letter below, and it got us both really thinking about how reading and cooking help us move through our precious lives with more meaning and joy. We hope you find something good to read and eat below. And please, if you have any suggestions to add to Germaine’s book recommendation and my list of ‘joy snacks,’ we’d love to hear them in the comments below.
Also…we have a live event coming up! Germaine and Sophie are very excited to be heading to the Mudgee Readers Festival to speak at a Lazy Long Lunch at Logan Wines on Sunday, August 18. Over half the tickets for this one are already gone, so if you’d like to come, please click here to grab a spot.
If you can’t make it, we’ll be recording the conversation for a future episode.
Hi Sophie and Germaine,
I’d love to take you up on the offer of a recipe and/or reading prescription. I’m on the eve of a big birthday (that finishes with a zero) and have seen many people I care for suffer illness and difficult life circumstances in the past 12 months. This has caused me to rethink how I’m ‘do’ life, and I’m planning to make some changes to improve the quality of my life.
The plan involves reducing stress and busyness and making more time for the things that I enjoy such as cooking and reading!
Ultimately, I hope this will establish a more purposeful and healthy life for myself and my family.
Change is daunting at the best of times, and establishing a new way of living feels both exciting and challenging. I’d love any recommendations you and Germaine think would support me during this time.
Many thanks.
