Good morning, and happy Solstice!

We are running a little behind with our next podcast episode (which will be out next Friday) but still wanted to drop in here with a fortnightly hello and some good things to read and eat in the meantime. And for a while now we’ve been wanting to start a collection of favourite podcasts and audiobooks, one we can add to as we go along (and hopefully with some of your suggestions too - please hit us up in the comments below and we can update). So let’s go!

Here below is the beginning of a list of podcasts and audiobooks that we love to listen to when life gets busy, when we’re in the car, cooking, walking, gardening, etc. Sophie listens to books on her morning walks, Germaine while driving and walking around town.

Because even though nothing will ever replace the joy, peace, and world-building of reading an ‘actual book’, sometimes it’s nice (and convenient) to be read to too!

.We hope you find a few new favourites below and would love to hear about your favourite podcasts or audiobooks as well.

Germaine’s favourite podcasts about books and reading

1. Sydney Writers Festival

It’s perfect timing for this newsletter with the SWF ending last month as it means they are just beginning to put some events on their podcast! I was lucky enough to get tickets to the Ann Patchett and Meg Mason conversation, which was delightful. They discussed their penpal friendship, why Ann wants to write “happy” books, the ordinary joys of friendships, neighbours, bookshops, love… it’s all here and it’s all in this podcast! If you missed it, they were also the subjects of the Good Weekend’s Two of Us column last weekend. It’s a reminder that the closest friendships are often built on the ordinary routines of daily life.
