Something to Eat and Something to Read

We are a monthly podcast and fortnightly newsletter all about and celebrating cooking, reading and reading about cooking.

Hosted by Bibliotherapist/Psychotherapist Germaine Leece and food writer Sophie Hansen, who both believe you should never go anywhere, or for long, without something to eat and something to read.

We are a listener supported podcast and newsletter, and while every episode will always be free to listen to, our show notes, recipes and recommendations will be available to paid subscribers only. So if you’d like to support us to the tune of $5/month and help us continue recording for and writing to you, please click below.

Thanks so much, Sophie and Germaine

Something to Eat and Something to Read is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.

Of course these days, if you have a phone in your hand you have access to many things to read and scroll and play and watch and do. But we think there’s nothing quite like quiet time with a book and something nice to eat. It's the ultimate self-care.

And this is the premise behind all that we do. In each episode, we answer letters from people who might be in a bit of a slump, might be grieving or celebrating, might have lost their Mojo with cooking, or creativity or life in general. We then ‘prescribe’ something to eat (with recipes) and something to read.

Plus, each episode we discuss a book we’ve both read, a book that of course features food in its writing and share what it meant to us. Because while reading and cooking can of course be done in isolation, we want people to experience how these moments of self-reflection and quiet can also connect us to others through our conversations about books and listeners' letters that will also resonate and connect with others.
