Reading and eating Advent, Week 4
We made it! Here is Week Four, our final week of this reading and eating advent. We hope it has brought some new and good things to read and eat into your life this December.
And in case you missed it, our Christmas special episode was published on Friday and you can listen here.
We are so grateful to you all for supporting this project. Thank you for listening, reading and cooking along with us this year. We will be back in your ears with a summer reading special in early January, but for now, Merry Christmas, and thank you again.
Day 23, Monday, December 19th
Reading - Seeing other people by Diana Reid
“This Christmas, the sisters had agreed to meet at Eleanor’s apartment in Potts Point… Eleanor left the door open and returned to the kitchen, where several punnets of berries were open on the counter. In the middle of the chopping board sat a very flat pavlova… Eleanor always cooked like someone had asked her to do it, even though nobody ever did… it was stressful, too, for those who had to eat her creations. They would smile even as they chewed, because they could tell – no matter how many times Eleanor said, ‘The recipe is surprisingly easy’ – that her sanity had been diced very finely by the whole ordeal.” Seeing Other People by Diana Reid
This book did make me laugh and think about loyalty and relationships. So much so that it made it into my top 6 Advent books for the Christmas podcast episode and I gave it to Sophie to take home with her. It’s about sisters, family and love triangles. What’s not to love for summer reading?!
